NYC public charter schools are open to ALL children regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, location, income or ability. Students are admitted through a lottery, and charter schools do not discriminate in their admission policies.

The New York State Board of Regents recently approved 18 charter schools to open in New York City this fall. We will update our Web site shortly with more detailed information on each school, but in the meantime please contact our office for information.
Since the statutory "cap" on charter schools was lifted last year, at total of 29 charters have been issued by authorizers including 26 to schools in New York City and three for schools outside the city (Buffalo, Rochester and Troy).
